1. The applicant's service medical record shows that he was treated for a wound that was sustained as the result of enemy action. He should be awarded the Purple Heart for a wound sustained on or about 10 April 1967. The is no available substantiating evidence to show that he is eligible for a second award of the Purple Heart.
2. The applicant is entitled to two bronze service stars for wear on the Vietnam Service Medal and his unit was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and the RVN Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation.
3. The above awards should be added to his DO Form 214.

DENY APPLICATION
1. The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for partial relief and to excuse failure to timely file. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by:
a. awarding him the Purple Heart;
b. deleting the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star from his DD Form 214; and
c. adding the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation and the RVN Civil Actions Honor Medal First Class Unit Citation to his DD Form 214.
